PRESS RELEASE:COOPERATION NOT CONFRONTATION
Friday, November 14, 2014
Concerning the ongoing political crisis in Somalia, German Ambassador Andreas Peschke made the following statement today:
“Germany is deeply concerned about the political stalemate in Mogadishu. It could undermine reconciliation and development efforts and it might weaken the fight against al-Shabaab.
Leaders and political institutions in Somalia need to achieve key milestones in the coming six months in order to fulfill Vision 2016 for the Somali people.
The remarkable successes of the last months were achieved jointly, through a spirit of mutual trust and co-operation by all relevant actors. It is a joint responsibility to ensure the sustainability of these achievements.
Germany encourages all parties to choose the way of cooperation in the interest of the people of Somalia.
