The Government of Puntland State of Somalia welcomes the Ministerial High Level Partnership Forum (HPLF) meeting of 29-30 July, 2015 held in Mogadishu and the reaffirmation of the collective commitments to deliver the critical political and security milestones required in 2016 in a timely manner.
We share the feeling of disappointment with the Somali people and our international partners at the failure of the Federal Government to deliver on its mandate, the milestones of Vision 2016, and the all-important universal elections.
The Government of Puntland strongly supports the no extension provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2232 and the HPLF commitments on inclusive, fair and transparent national elections in 2016. We underline the critical importance of implementing these commitments.
We also welcome the electoral Guiding Principles, the proposed consultative process to achieve national consensus and adoption of an inclusive detailed action plan on the electoral process for 2016 by the 15 of August 2015.
In this regard, Puntland is fully papered to host the envisioned Somali consultative conference on the electoral process for 2016.
The Government and people of Puntland are committed to a peaceful, stable, democratic, federal and prosperous Somalia and are determined to forge ahead on the realization of these objectives. –
