PUNTLAND UNDER TEROR ATTACK FROM SO-CALLED INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
Puntland, the first federal state of Somalia and the most developing and peaceful semi-autonomy region in the country has been a challenged by the Western nation’s hidden agenda to be applied on upcoming Somali elections in September 2016. Puntland had constitutionally rejected the once used formula known as 4.5 which Somali signatories in their Garowe 1, 2 and Galkaio 1 collectively decided that formula should not be functional in Somali power sharing system after 2012.
Unfortunately, UN representative for Somalia, Michael Keating who is really not representing except Britain’s renewed old imperialist interests in Somalia insisted not to consider neither Somali signatories’ decision nor Puntland and its people’s position of upholding and honouring the agreement mediated and sponsored by the UN itself.
Recently, Somali websites quoting Mr. Keating published his two strategies to prevent Puntland solid position for rejecting 4.5 formula. One of these strategies is being isolating Puntland government and dealing directly with economically influenced individuals and groups to infiltrate Puntland governo-popular stand against that injustice and unacceptable 4.5 formula which only suites foreign dealers’ interests of dividing Somali people on the basis of the old “divide and rule” concept.
Knowing all these roles and Keating’s cheatings against Puntland and Somalia well-being, it’s not surprising to me the so-called international community and its affiliates in Somalia namely
Damjadiid regime, unconstitutional Gal-half-Mudug administration and Alshabaab mercenaries to lunch well coordinated siege on Puntland strategic and productive shores from Gar’ad to Eyl. Puntland press conference on the attack had supported our view by stating the federal government and anonymous enemies of both Puntland and Somali peace are behind the siege.
Any how these events are not contributing in favor of Somali peace rebuilding and development efforts. In Contrary, it should be a reminder for the people of Puntland that similar action took place in 20th century colonial era when Italian led coallition with Southern Somalis conquered Hobyo and Baargaal of Majertenia Sultanate and Kingdom respectively in 1925, After those rulers rejected Italian fascist rule unlike the Southerners who surrendered and North-Westerners who welcomed British colonial atrocities in Somaliland against the great Somali Freedom Fighter, Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan who was liberating the Somalis from the humiliating foreign invaders of the British government. The British nicknamed Sayid Mohamed, The Mad Mullah when they have realised that he is not backing down from his standpoint of physical warfare. The Sayid was helped by his well armed loyal Derwish army in their thousands in the Sool, Sanaag, Nugaal and parts of Mudug region.
The history is in the books some of them written by British historians and obviously the history is repeating itself.
The question is, why Britain is leading the campaign of destabilising the poor nation of Somalia that is already struggling itself with political, economical and security threats? We Somalis know full well how why the imbalanced support of the Somali nation is being practiced by the so called International community led by UN representative, Mr Keating and EU Envoy of Somalia, who tirelessly engaged in the practice of dividing Somali leaders and favouring those they perceive are serving their interest.
What are these special interests? It’s about corporate dealership, Importing and maintaining inter-African colonialisation through Amisom, depleting and appropriation of the nations natural resources. We would be so naïve believing in and seeking prosperity through foreign hand as they do more harm than good to our god given resources and making our youth and future leaders to flee, drown and eaten by sharks in the high seas.
Take for instance, the electoral procedure in Britain. The members of parliaments(MPs) represent constituencies not Irish, English, Scots or Walsh ethnic groups and that system is adopted throughout the Western counties.
Why then Somalis should elect their leaders through tribal affiliation and not based in districts(constituencies)? Since the parliamentarian model is sponsored and initiated by the UN and funded by the EU in Brussels?
The devil is in the detail because responsibility and political stand-off is the aim of the so-called international community and Somalis who love their land would NOT budge. As it stands, the buck stops with Mr Keating who is manipulating the Somali political arena by using Yes-men in the Somali Federal Government in Mogadisho led by The president himself and his henchmen.
There were Somali Consultation Forum held in Mogadishu and Kismayo with the aim of agreeing on the electoral model to be used at the end of the current administration which ended fruitless and standoff between the participants and no agreement was reached whatsoever. The first meetings took place in Mogadishu; second one in Kismayo and the final one in Mogadishu.
During the final meeting in Mogadishu, something very strange happened, in the presence of all parties, the Somali president stood up and announced that during the meeting in Kismayo ALL parties agreed to use the 4.5 formula for the upcoming national election, this is something unheard of in the Somali tradition and custom, pure lies, in that instance the president of Puntland stood up and refuted the president’s falsehood claim in his presence.
Letters was sent to the UN Rep of Somalia Mr Keating by Puntland and SFG as well, unfortunately the SFG letter was deliberately selected and passed on to Bank Ki Moon, the UN Secreteray General.
Besides, Mr Keating came late into Somali Political showbiz and prematurely adopting decisions made privately by the SFG in deciding the 2016 election model and executing immediate press conference by announcing that 4.5 is the election formula in the summer of 2016.
Historically, Somali people’s will has not been denied or manipulated and it will stay that way for the foreseeable future.
