IGAD WELCOMES OUTCOME OF THE MEETING BETWEEN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF SOMALIA AND LEADERS OF REGIONAL FEDERAL STATES
Addis Ababa 7 February 2015, IGAD welcomes the outcome of the 4-6 February
meeting in Mogadishu between the Federal Government of Somalia and Regional
Federal States.
We are very encouraged by the establishment of a Consultative Forum bringing
together the Federal Government and regional governments to work together to
deliver the critical political and security milestones required to achieve Vision 2016.
We believe that this Forum provides the right framework for delivering concrete
action in the fight against Al Shabaab, the integration of Somali forces and
development of Somali security structures, the Constitutional Review, and New Deal
implementation.
We pledge our support to this important initiative and stand ready to work with the
Consultative Forum and National Security Committee once it is established.
We continue to look forward to the rapid conclusion of the Cabinet formation
process by Somali institutions.
