The Government of Puntland fully welcomes the historic appointment of Mrs Katherine Simonds Dhananias the new U.S. ambassador to Somalia;

the first such appointment in more than two decades. Ambassador Dhanani’s appointment speaks volume of the progress Somalia is making

and demonstrates the growing confidence of international friends in the recovery and development of Somalia.

“The decision to appointment Ambassador Dhanani is a very important one for Somalia. Not only does it signal progress and confidence but also the

deepening relationship between the United States and Somalia. We warmly welcome this historic appointment and look forward to working closely with
